Do I dare read it or should I just sleep?
- NuclearIsShit, on 08/03/2008, -15/+23One of my favorite pre-sleep pastimes is banging all your moms. All that physical activity sure helps put me right out!

- tewstep, on 08/03/2008, -1/+15no reading in bed? C'mon. I can see the help with no TV, but I thought I was onto something with the reading before bed.

- grovest4life, on 08/03/2008, -0/+5If i cant sleep i have to do is open a college business textbook and after one paragraph I'm out. The toughest part is opening it though.

- Kalidasa, on 08/03/2008, -6/+1Wake up and smell the coffee. A recent study shows that smelling coffee causes releases in the brain that protect it from the damage sleep deprivation causes. This was done with rats, hope it works for humans too. http://yogawithkalidasa.com
- Holk23, on 08/03/2008, -6/+11Or you could just smoke some cheap weed and you'll be asleep in no time

- Anonymerican, on 08/03/2008, -1/+6Stupid article with nothing really to say, no backing up facts, just a few meanderings categorized in 5 parts. We need less sleep as we get older? That's all it says about that, and it's the last sentence of the paragraph...stupid.

- trer, on 08/03/2008, -1/+3Need less sleep as you get older? Seems like during my college years is when I got the least sleep and yet still had the energy to party/write papers all night long. And now in my working years I can't get enough of it and never have energy to do anything after work.
- Haoie, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1Older than that, I think.
Think about how much babies and small children sleep.
- Haoie, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1Older than that, I think.
- rmeddy, on 08/03/2008, -4/+2Porn helps
- dhughes, on 08/03/2008, -0/+8 I started a new job in 2005 working shift work, my late shift is weekends 6pm to 2:30am, I found it very hard to get used to after nearly 20 years of 9am to 5pm work. In the old days before shift work by midnight I felt tired but not exhausted, if I went to sleep at 11pm or midnight I would wake up before my alarm clock went off at 7:30am, not anymore!
Eventually my body clock shifted and 2am is the new midnight, in the morning I find it very hard to wake up before 10am. I feel numb all the time, never rested but never really tired. My three nights per week at the gym, I used to go in the evenings, stopped because it just never seems like there is convenient time when I feel like it going, most nights I just fall in to bed and don't even brush my teeth.
Interesting diet changes too, at work I use the vending machine quite often since I seem to want junk food. The pop machine, due to local regulations, was now able to use the 591ml plastic pop bottles instead of the old ones that were 355ml, eventually the staff got used to it and people who would never drink an entire 355ml bottle are now drinking a 591ml bottle which is almost two of the old ones.
I can honestly say I'm sure people who don't work shift work, I used to be one of them, have no idea how good they have it. Even a crappy job but 9 to 5 is far better than a moderately better paying job that is shift work. All this from lack of or erratic sleep due to work. - akatherder, on 08/03/2008, -1/+3"Refrain from caffeine, heavy or spicy foods, and alcohol and other optional medications that might keep you awake, four to six hours before bed-time."
Alcohol puts me OUT. I'm not talking about binge drinking and passing out. If I have three or four beers, I can't wait to hit the pillow. It's a depressant right.- kaeves, on 08/04/2008, -0/+1While alcohol does help you _get_ to sleep, it will make your sleep less restful.
- skyz, on 08/03/2008, -3/+1i need more sleep

(frustrated) Where the hell is that jacket?"
KRAMER: "Oh, the one with the crest?"
JERRY: "Yeah."
KRAMER: "Oh, well, that's at the cleaners."
JERRY: "The cleaners? How did it get there?"
KRAMER: "Well, I, uh, I borrowed it last night and it got a little dirty."
JERRY: (irritated) "Great."
KRAMER: (laughing to himself) "Somehow I dozed off and woke up in a pile of
garbage."
JERRY: "Somehow? You've had an hour and twenty minutes sleep in three days!"
KRAMER: "Well, so, look, the cleaner said you could pick it up tonight at six."
JERRY: "Alright. I just hope I can get it to the Friars Club before the show."
GEORGE: "Won't be a problem."
(Kramer has closed his eyes and fallen asleep while leaning on the counter in
Jerry's kitchen.)
JERRY: (to Kramer) "Hey."
(Kramer does not respond.)
JERRY: (louder) "Hey!!"
(Kramer snaps awake with a jerk.)
KRAMER: "Watch out, boy!" - JakeyG14, on 08/03/2008, -2/+4Having a pre-sleep wank in bed always helps.

- NecroDigg, on 08/04/2008, -0/+1Going to sleep is easy. Getting up on the other hand, requires me to summon every bit of willpower I have, to force myself out of bed in time for work. Every goddamn morning, it's the same thing.
Some people can just wake up and jump out of bed no problems. ***** it. - shaneomac27, on 08/04/2008, -0/+1"...and alcohol and other optional medications that might keep you awake..."

- EdwardMass, on 08/04/2008, -0/+0How am I supposed to sleep soundly if I can't murder a few thousand NPCs before nodding off. Sweat dreams, mother *****!
- beauley, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Very few of us are aware that our bodies are similar to our backyard pools, in that their PH varies and should be maintained at a certain level to be in an ideal state. Left acidic, they will breed bacteria growth. Kept slightly alkaline, they will be safe for use, given proper filtering. Just an analogy...
